Marine tourism
Mulleres do Mar de Poio Association
The Pontevedra estuary has always been one of the pillars of the local economy. The almost 20 kilometers of coastline have shaped the character of Poio, define its landscape and offer us the star products of our gastronomy: fish, mussels, clams… delicacies that reach our plate thanks to the work that the men and women of the sea of Poio have been carrying out for centuries.
With the marine tourism experiences, we will learn firsthand about the work of the shellfish gatherers, participating in a day on the bank.
Shellfishing experience:
From the beaches (the clam beds) of Padrón or A Seca, accompany the shellfish gatherers to distinguish the different types of bivalves, the extraction techniques, the equipment used, the classification process at the control point…
Fish market experience:
Explained visit to learn about the dynamics of the Campelo Fish Market and attend a fish and seafood auction.
