These figures were boosted by the temporary location of the Combarro tourist office in the Praza da Chousa, which was used by 2,500 visitors during the Festa do Mar celebration, between August 28 and 31. “A success”, especially considering that the weather did not cooperate, and Cochón wanted to personally thank the informants “who made a great effort and a phenomenal job.”

The councilor highlighted the growth of family, national and international tourism, and the increasing interest in active and sustainable tourism. In addition, she highlighted the excellent forecasts transferred by the sector for the first weeks of September, especially with the departure of the 16th stage of La Vuelta on the 9th of this month.

Cochón once again highlighted the strength of nautical tourism, with almost 100 transits and 95% occupancy of moorings in the Combarro Marina, as well as the push of the Jacobean variants, with 1,500 pilgrims from five continents who sealed their credentials in the Town Hall and the Monastery.

The Head of Tourism stressed that the extraordinary data for July and August, together with the good forecasts for the coming months, “are the ideal basis” on which to continue promoting deseasonalisation, internationalisation and diversification”. Thus, she recalled that the local Government already has numerous activities and events that will allow visitors to continue discovering a quality destination with “gastronomy, nature, sport, culture, heritage and much more” 365 days a year.

The average occupancy rate in the municipality’s accommodations exceeds 91% and there are “very good forecasts” for September.
