The Councilor for Tourism of Poio, Roc\u00edo Coch\u00f3n, put the tourist occupancy at 92.3% during the first half of August, according to information collected from the sector. This figure represents an increase of 5 points over the 87% of the same period in 2024 and 7 points over the 85% registered in 2023. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cMore than 9 out of 10 accommodation places available in Poio were occupied by a visitor who boosts our economy while discovering and enjoying a unique destination\u201d, explained Coch\u00f3n, for whom these numbers are \u201ca demonstration that \u201cPoio is in its best moment, also in Tourism\u201d.<\/p>\n\n
The councilor also highlighted that occupancy was higher than 85% in all parishes, \u201cfrom San Xo\u00e1n to Rax\u00f3,\u201d and with a higher number of accommodation places than in previous years, \u201cclear indicators of the strength of the sector and the capacity to create employment and wealth throughout the Municipality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
In addition, the tourist information officers at the Escola do Campo (Combarro) and O Casal de Ferreir\u00f3s (San Salvador) offices attended to more than 1,200 visitors during the first half of the month. Coch\u00f3n highlighted the increasing power of nautical tourism, after the Combarro Marina posted a \u2018full\u2019 sign, with 100% of the moorings occupied by boats of 18 nationalities and a growing number of international requests to moor boats during the fall and winter. <\/p>\n\n
Coch\u00f3n highlighted that, with the data from the first half of August, the Marina has already exceeded the transits of 2024, and reinforces its leadership in nautical tourism in the province.<\/p>\n\n
In that sense, she pointed out that the XXIV Festa do Mar presented this Thursday represents \u201can unbeatable showcase to bring Poio to the world,\u201d especially \u201cour seafaring essence,\u201d since for four days, Combarro combines \u201cGastronomy, music, culture, tradition and activities for everyone,\u201d aimed at the residents of Poio and its surroundings, but also at the thousands of people who visit us.<\/p>\n\n
Thus, she recalled that during the event, from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 31, the tourist information office of Escola do Campo will be installed in Praza de Chousa, where municipal informants will provide personalized attention to the thousands of tourists who will come to the town these days.
