itinerary covers a total of 23 mills along the course of the Freir\u00eda River, also called Rego dos Mu\u00ed\u00f1os or Rego dos Frailes. According to tradition, this name is because, at the source of the river, in the place of O Busto, a nobleman converted to a friar built a monastery of which no remains remain. <\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">The path starts from Praza de Alfredo Romay, from the so-called Mu\u00ed\u00f1o de Cubo de Abaixo and runs upstream always close to the bank, crossing riverside forests with ash, birch, hazel, willow and oak trees. The entire route is suitable for walking along a dirt road with numerous wooden walkways to avoid unevenness and ford the current. coves and oak groves. The route is of low difficulty and has a total length of 1.2 kilometers. The path begins at the Covelo Pier and runs along the coast of the parish of Santa Mar\u00eda de Samieira, passing through the beaches of Covelo, O Caeiro and La\u00f1o. At the end of the route you can contemplate the beautiful views of the Pontevedra estuary from the La\u00f1o viewpoint. Very close by is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the town, the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/3BkNssvTXRSs4VsC7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samiera Mills Route<\/a>. \u201cSpiritual Variant\u201d of The Way of Saint James passes through the municipality of Poio. This is an itinerary that connects two Jacobean routes: the \u201cPortuguese Way\u201d and the \u201cSea Way\u201d, crossing the lands of Saln\u00e9s and Arousa. It is divided into three stages that add up to a total distance of 73 kilometers, starting from the city of Pontevedra in the Praza da Peregrina. The last stage is also called the Traslatio, because it reproduces the journey by sea of the remains of the Apostle Santiago to Padr\u00f3n.   <\/p><p>The passage of The Way of Saint James through Poio begins at the place of Fragamoreira (San Xo\u00e1n de Poio). In its first kilometers the route coincides with the <strong>Padre Sarmiento Route<\/strong>. The first important stop is the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/LFD6xVofiKyYNfwc8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Monastery of San Xo\u00e1n de Poio<\/strong><\/a> and from here it continues to the A Reiboa \u2013 A Seca cove, where we can visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/9sK9cNZqfE5eudTHA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Parque da Memoria<\/strong><\/a>. In fact, the first oyster farming park on the Iberian Peninsula was built here in 1868. However, over time, the overexploitation of the resource led to the disappearance of the activity, although it has left its mark on the place names.  <\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">The path has a length of 1.8 kilometers, is round trip and has a low difficulty. It can be started at the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/oDrfDrBtxBgAHMkr7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Campelo pier<\/strong><\/a> in San Xo\u00e1n de Poio. The path runs along the coast with beautiful views of the Pontevedra estuary, the island of Tambo and the Illote dos Ratos, to the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/yRE3f2WCH7GDe7rv7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Recreational Area of A Seca<\/strong><\/a>. begins and ends at the mouth of the Regato da Cancela, coinciding with the A Seca Sports Area and the Parque da Memoria, designed by Nobel Prize winner Adolfo P\u00e9rez Esquivel. The route runs upstream and, in a section of less than one kilometer, you pass nine mills, seven of which have been restored. The one known as Mu\u00ed\u00f1o de Arriba has also been completely rehabilitated with all the machinery for its operation. In addition to the mills, the steps (&#8220;pontellas&#8221;) to cross the river, the paved sections of the road, or the canals that led water to the &#8220;rodicios&#8221;, such as the 40-meter-long Mu\u00ed\u00f1o da Bufa, are of enormous interest.   <\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">The path runs through an area of high ecological value, among alders, willows, birches and oaks. The total route of 190 kilometers crosses the municipalities of Pontevedra, Poio, Sanxenxo, O Grove, Mea\u00f1o, Cambados, Vilanova de Arousa, A Illa de Arousa and Vilagarc\u00eda, Catoira and Pontecesures. <\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">Through the municipality of Poio the itinerary crosses approximately 12 kilometers of the first stage (Pontevedra \u2013 Sanxenxo). From Pontevedra you arrive through the place of Fragamoreira and the first great point of interest is the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/LFD6xVofiKyYNfwc8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Monastery of San Xo\u00e1n de Poio<\/strong><\/a>. (round trip).<\/p><h3><strong>Difficulty<\/strong>:<\/h3><p>Low.<\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">This route runs along the banks of the Regato do Pereiro, a river stream born from several sources that converge in the Cachada da Randa and flows into the A Reiboa \u2013 A Seca cove, right next to the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/sbbczje1maZmeVWAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Parque de la Memoria<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p><p class=\"Textbody\">The route begins in A Ponte Vella, in the upper part of the place and goes up the path crossing a characteristic riverside forest along which we pass several wooden bridges and up to three abandoned mills. One of the main attractions of the route are the waterfalls. The first, called A Pindilleira, is located 475 meters from the beginning and is almost 7 meters high. The Freixa Alta waterfall is located right at the end of the path and has a height of 10 meters.
